IT'S 2020 AND THIS IS THE YEAR OF YOU
k, that was dramatic. But it's always good to put your best self forward, and to me that means feeling good about the way I look. I love skincare. I don't know what it is, but all the products and the science behind it all really interest me. And I also love watching my skin improve with great products. I also know that creating a collection of skincare products you can rely on is very expensive. I've collected mine over a few years and I've found several products that have made a major improvement on my skin. Some of them are big splurges so I've left them out of this post. But the products I did include in this post are in my opinion, affordable for high end. They also get the job done. I've linked each product, and I will explain why I love them, but it's important that you read about them, read the reviews and ensure that they will work for your skin type.
Also know that each of these items are linked to Sephora. If you are interested in the product but not interested in fronting the money without testing it, you can head into any Sephora store and ask for a free sample so you can try it and make sure it works for your skin. I do this often when I try a new product!
And so you know, my skin is combination skin, closer to dry, sensitive with mild rosacea, and has fine lines and signs of again.

Cleansing oil is a new thing for me, but now that I've been using it, I can't imagine my nighttime skincare routine without it. You need to double cleanse with this - use this first (I use my fingers because cotton rounds are not sustainable) and rub it onto to my face after I've gently removed my eye makeup. It breaks up the makeup so you can totally clean your face. Follow up with a cleanser after you wash it off. This is one of the cheaper ones and it has great reviews.
A favourite sheet mask of mine! My skin always feels hydrated and fresh after this. Any time I travel I usually pack one of these because the air from the airplane makes my skin incredibly dry no matter how much water I drink...which then equals breakouts!
This contradicts my statement above about sustainability...but when I'm in a pinch these are great at pre-cleansing my face without making it sting. I find some cleansing wipes make my face sting and the coconut ones from Sephora brand don't.
LOVE LOVE LOVE this mask. I use this while I soak in the bath. My skin always feels so good after this and tightens my pores. This mask can be used anytime for no particular skin issue. But I can assure you, you will love the results.
Another awesome mask - this one I used when things are really bad. When I've been stressed, wearing a lot of makeup or just when my skin feels gross. It completely clears it - pores and everything. I love the results. And both this one and the pink one above last a really long time!
In the morning when you wake up and you're exhausted because your baby kept you up all night, or your new puppy wouldn't stop barking, or your boss expected you to have a super long report completed by 7am...this eye cream is EVERYTHING. It totally works!
My second favourite sheet masks. First of all, I love this brand! Second of it, this mask feels insane (in a good way). Keep this one in the fridge for extra pleasure. the mask itself feels really cooling and silky but the product has amazing results for dry, dull skin. And it's a great price point. Really good to pack on hot vacations.
Next to another luxury product that I didn't list in this post because I felt it was too expensive, is this. I use this cream A LOT. If you are interested, I recommend trying a sample first, because it's different. It's a gel consistency, which in my opinion feels incredible on the skin. It also feels a little sticky on the skin after you apply it and takes a bit to absorb. I use it at night, and each morning my skin look f*cking fresh. Like so fresh I could skip foundation.
I've been using this cleanser for years and I still love it. It does the job and lasts a really, really long time. That is all.
Lactic Acid is an awesome product to use. It's an AHA that exfoliates the skin, improves fine lines and wrinkles and even brightens. You will want to use this with a hyaluronic acid, retinol (if you use one) and a good moisturizer. Be sure to use an SPF during the day as AHA's can make your skin weak to the sun - more than normal. The Ordinary's is good and so affordable it's insane!
This is a holy grail product for me. My skin has had a lot of improvements thanks to this single and super cheap product. I apply it to my face and neck each morning and every night under my moisturizer. I promise, you will NEVER regret buying this product!!
If you haven't used this product yet, it's time to start. I apply it every night for smooth lips the following morning. If you plan on wearing a dark lipstick, use this about 30 mins before you get ready - it will make a huge difference. The price seems steep, but it lasts a long time and works really well.
