As I get back into my regular routine of blogging again (the cold weather is rolling in which means there will be cooking posts soon!!), Bryon and I are scheduling time for fashion shoots this weekend and I'm starting to plan out more lifestyle content. I've mentioned that in the summer every weekend is always booked. I take full advantage of summer weather - even though we could hardly call this summer a summer. I love summer and I love winter, but I really hate the transition seasons. Spring and Fall are so unpredictable and it's tough knowing what to wear etc. So really, I don't have a ton of time to dedicate to my blog as much as I would in the fall, winter and spring. I'm for sure less busy in those seasons.
Right now we are getting ready for our New Zealand trip at the end of the month, but I also have another festival to go to in 2 weeks. I buy a lot of my products and makeup from Sephora because it's easy. I can do it online, I know exactly what I want and it comes right to my condo. But one thing I never overlook are the samples. This might seem like the silliest post, but I promise you it's useful.
The thing with Sephora samples is that 1. you get to try products that are new, up and coming or popular. and 2. you can select specific products you need in simple size (sometimes products you're already using, which is a bonus in my opinion. Over time I collect these samples and stash them in a little bag in our bathroom so I have them when I need them.
I use most of my samples for traveling. Usually when I travel I use my carry-on only (with the exception of my upcoming trip to New Zealand, of course). That being said, I really don't have a lot of room for moisturizers, shampoo and conditioner, face cream, serums etc. So I go to my trusty collection of Sephora samples and grab what I need for my trip. Doing this means less weight in your carry on, less chance of getting dinged for your baggage going over-weight and easier traveling / packing. There is no exception to my skin care when I travel, and usually I need to step up my skin care game when I do travel because my skin and planes and the lack of sleep I get doesn't do my face any justice. I also HATE hotel toiletries (except for the little kit that comes with a mini nail file, cotton ball and Q-tip - those are great hahaha). So that's why these little samples are so important.
I love helping you guys out and giving you travel suggestions to make things easier, so that's why I wanted to introduce you to Sephora samples.
Below are some of my favourites that I add to my check-out if they are available:
(above: Face masks are always an add-on. This is a new-ish product and I love it. I don't know that it will be available as a sample size often, but if you see it, add it. It's a great mask to travel with because it has honey which reduces stress and irritation on your face. You can purchase it in full size HERE. However, you can never go wrong with a face mask.)
(above: First Aid Beauty is ALWAYS a must for me. I LOVE their products. This Coconut Skin Smoothing Primer Moisturizer is an absolute must for me: the coconut is hydrating which is perfect for de-puffing jet lag or hang-over eyes. It refreshes your face completely. Full size available HERE. The Smashbox Photo Finish Foundation Primer is also another good one to grab, and you're probably already familiar with it. It's easy to toss in your makeup bag. Full Size HERE. Hourglass Veil Mineral Primer is my all time favourite primer. The problem is, it's extremely expensive and it comes in a glass tube making traveling with it a nightmare. I don't want to misplace it and I don't want to smash it. I was pumped when I saw it in sample size. Full size HERE. )
(above: Serums are another problem when traveling because they often come in a glass tube. Or they can be messy. Josie Maran's argan oil is a dream. I use her foundation and I swear it has made a difference on my skin. If your skin is a little lack-lustre while traveling this will do the trick. Argan oil is so good for skin and great for age-prevention. The full sized version is incredibly pricey, so if you can snag a sample you're lucky! Full size HERE. I'll admit that this Peter Thomas Roth serum looks creepy. The colour is a dark brown and it's kind of thick. But it does wonder for my skin. I've got this sample a few times before and I do really like it. Full size HERE. )
(above: this is another great product to use after the plane when your face is looking / feeling puffy. It just completely brightens this and makes it look so much more fresh. Josie Maran Surreal Skin Argan Finishing Balm is a great product to throw in your make-up bag when you travel. Full size HERE.)
(above: Another great sample to take advantage of are cleansers. Usually I use Philosophy's Purity, but there's no way I can fit a full sized version in my carry-on, nor would I pack it in a large suitcase either. It just takes up too much space. A few samples usually last me a week-long trip. This Kale + Green Tea cleanser is great because it help to make your skin more vibrant and awake. Full sample HERE. (it's actually quite affordable) )
(above: Again, I'm all about de-puffing and relaxing my skin when I travel and hydration is SO important. Litres and litres of water aside, a little help with product does the trick. Anything that says 'hydration' in the name has my attention. When you travel, no matter how far you go, your regular routine gets completely thrown off. You're not going to bed on time, you're not waking up at your usual time, you're drinking more (maybe) eating differently...all this can take effect on your skin. This boscia Revitalizing Black Hydration Gel is AMAZING (available full size HERE) and so is Tarte's Drink of H20 (available full size HERE). I love them both!
