Sorry everyone - my weekend was uneventful so I don't have any cool videos, weekend post cards or pretty pics to share.
This weekend was an opportunity to completely relax. It was a rare weekend spent in Toronto at home (for the most part). Bryon was on call all weekend so I only saw him for the brief moment I was awake as he crawled into bed. I did go out with my girlfriends on Saturday night, which was very fun, but otherwise I ran errands and on Saturday morning had the luxury of getting a facial at my new favourite med spa Starlight Med Spa.
I try not to saturate my blog with reviews and ads because I genuinely want to give you guys inspiration and advice on products that have worked well for me. The girls at Starlight offered me their Starlight Glow Facial in exchange for some honest insight on the service on my social media. I'm going to be 100% honest with you guys - the photo above is a RARE and I mean rare, photo of myself make-up free (aside from my eyebrows and mascara) post facial. I was very happy with the results this service produced. I haven't stopped talking about it since Saturday. Here is a run-down of what the service is, which I pulled from their website:
Customized to your individual skincare goals and needs, we guarantee you’ll walk out glowing like never before. This facial begins with a thorough skin analysis and examination followed by a double cleanse, which allows the therapist to determine the best procedures and products to be utilized within the 45 minute treatment. Your customized facial may include the “starlight technique”, microdermabrasion, chemical peeling, stream and extraction, multi-masking, high-frequency therapy, LED therapy, derma-rolling, or lymphatic drainage. All Starlight Glows use HYDROPEPTIDE products, which are clinically proven to boost collagen and elastin and fight free-radical damage, while also targeting other skin concerns such as acne, sensitivity, and hyperpigmentation. $99
The service itself was great. Jessica, who is one of the owners did my facial and was so sweet. First of all, the girl is a dead ringer for Brittany Snow, so you know she's gonna be good lol. She chatted with me, explained some things to me about my skin so that I could treat it better moving forward. I retained a lot of great information. Obviously, being 32, aging is my biggest concern as I've mentioned in my other posts about my skin care routine. She gave me some tips on different products I could use. They also sell some of their products online so you could purchase them later online. She adjusted the facial based on my skin - because I get a lot of temporary redness from some products, she changed a few things. I could not get over the professionalism and knowledge I was getting from Jessica.
Afterward, I got in my car and checked out my face. My freckles were full out hahaha, but slowly started to tone down a bit. By the time I got home my skin looked so fresh. I'm writing this on Tuesday and as I was getting ready for work I didn't want to put any foundation on because I was so excited about the state of my skin. Of course, being as fresh as it is after the facial, my make up applied SO flawlessly. All the brightness that was gone from face is back. It's for sure a treatment I will do again as I notice a loss of brightness (usually toward the end of each season I notice it)
If you live in Toronto or the surrounding area, you can visit Starlight Med Spa. The girls are offering referrals from myself 20% their first service (and I don't get a kick back, so it's basically affiliate free for you! And that might even make you feel less pressured to go). Their spa is located in Vaughan / Woodbridge, so you'll need a car to get there, which is perhaps the only downside of this. I cannot tell you enough how worth it is to get this facial. My skin is really important to me, and the different this made was amazing. I do hope to partner with them again in the future.
If you're still reading this post and you're not from Toronto or Canada, I'm sure you can find some med spas that offer a similar service. Of course, do your research first and read some reviews. But getting a custom facial is such a valuable service for your skin!
As for the rest of the week. It's a SUPER busy one. I have an event for Roots tomorrow at their new flagship store in Toronto, and then on Thursday I have spin class at Spokehaus followed by dinner with Bryon and his friends. And somehow in between all of this, I have to pack and prep food for our camping trip in Killbear Provincial Park this week! Luckily, I have another Friday off this week - my brother and I have plan to go to Canada's Wonderland (we do it every year hahaha).
I hope you have a fabulous week!
