My family taught me from an early age that love is love. It doesn't matter if you're black, white or gay. We are all human, we all have the same organs. I'm so thankful for this very liberal upbringing, because I can't imagine having so much hatred toward a human being because they don't look like me or they don't love like me. God created people out of love, and we should follow that lead. I am always so sad when I think about how many hateful humans we co-exist with.
This weekend was PRIDE weekend in Toronto. It's actually one of the biggest Prides, which San Francisco follows. I had never had the opportunity to go - and if you follow me on Instagram, you'll know that Porter canceled 3 flights on Friday, including my flight to New Jersey to visit my friend. So I was stuck in Toronto, and decided to make the best of it. I could have watched the parade from my balcony on Sunday, but I really wanted to be on the ground and see up front and centre. I heard it was super vibrant, and also, our Prime Minister, Justin Trudeau was going to be marching in the parade, so naturally I wanted to see Mr. Centrefold in person lol. My cousin and I went down and I think we watched the parade for like 5 hours or something before we both had to pee and got hungry hahaha. It was still going by the time we got back up to my condo. It was such a good and exciting experience. It was probably the happiest thing I've ever seen. Everyone was so colourful and smiling and dancing. After such a terrible situation with my flight, this really made everything better.
I'm sort of working backwards with my weekend here haha. After the parade Danielle (my cuzzie) and I went for Mexican at this extremely awesome place called Margaritas in Baldwin Village. It has this little patio and it's so cute. The food was super good, and we both want to go back. If you're a Torontonian you NEED to check out Baldwin Village. It's such a cute little street with these restaurants. It's like a mini Kensington. Bryon and I actually went there on Saturday night - he took me out for dinner, probably because I was so bummed, to a restaurant called Bodega and it was really good too. So if you live in Toronto - go check it out!
Saturday we went to Oakville, which is a suburb of Toronto to see Bryon's friend. He has a boat and a dog, so I wasn't mad about that hahaha. We brought our SUP boards. I just took mine out quickly because the harbour is not exactly the safest place to take a SUP board. I really just wanted to try it out and see how it felt. It was perfect, so I'm happy with it. It's been tough finding time to take them out because the weather has been terrible. For example, I'm wearing a jacket today. It's almost July and I'm wearing a jacket.
All in all, it was a good weekend. I am really sad (and angry) that I didn't get to New Jersey. I'm trying to sort out another weekend in August that I can get over there, so we'll see what happens. Summer weekend get booked up so quickly for me because there's so much going on.
Hope you have a good week!!
(above: I know it's dark, but we found this hilarious cat tent at a dollar store for $2 and it was the best purchase ever. Lucca goes 'camping' when we bring on the balcony, and otherwise it's her little hiding place inside hahahaha. Finnigan can't fit in it so we're looking for a larger cat teepee)
